Tried a trigger fish hunt on Sunday 27/9. I had one frozen mack and tipped it off with Limpet. Had one small take but nothing came of it. Then one big hit and landed my first bait caught pollock in years good enough (3lb) but a real scrap, gave up on the bait and started spinning for pollock and had good fishing the only thing was every fish was taken from under my feet after casting out 50m or so! I always thought it would be a good pollock mark but never had any luck there. No Triggerfish though the Pollock hits did seem like Trigs, best
Yestrerday before going home I tried the Bass beach, as the world and his mother says iit is loaded. Spun for an hour or two at the turn of the tide but nothing. I had one rod with eel bait still no Bass......wading out I came accross a lot of small flounder, which is all I landed that day....I wish I had more time to head out to the bridges or Donegal pt. I wonder about the Trigs, they have been a highlight of my Autumns for the last few years. Anyone caught any yet? Anr they late or not coming to the shore?
When I get a chance I will post pics, one of the pollock was hideous and would walk away with any Gurning trophys on offer.
