Report:
35 turned out for this early morning competition including lads from some of the Waterford clubs, a few Cork clubs and a couple of fellas from somewhere else ( begins with K i think. )
Special mention has to go to Barry O'Rourke - despite just becoming a parent a few weeks ago, he bravely snuck out while mother and child were sleeping to go fishing. Thats parenting
Starting off it was fairly overcast with a slight westerly breeze that later on turned n/w. The water was fairly calm and clear - which all changed when the boat came in to seed/dredge for mussels.
Fish were caught from the start all along the bank and it was fairly steady throughout with a few areas of blanks - 7 lads blanked. I only had 1 fish but there were decent numbers all along the bank - one 12, two 11's, two 8's and a few 7's - and the fish averaged in the 30cms.Jamie and Keith tied for 2nd place with the same points and same amount of fish but Jamie had the longest fish of the pair, a flounder of 44cm - won the €70 pool.
The top 10 -
1st - Eugene Farrelly 12 459pts, 2nd Jamie Santry 419pts, 3rd Keith Mcgrath 419pts, 4th Mick Maher 318pts, 5th Brendan Murphy 295pts, 6th Paudie O'Driscoll 281pts, 7th Brendan O'Regan 277pts, 8th Paul Cody 260pts, 9th Brian Mansfield 227pts, 10th Barry Murphy 222pts.
We would like to thank John O'Brien for being the main sponsor of this competition, he is one of the few angling shops around that actually looks after anglers whether its supplying prizes or just giving you a good deal - cheers John.
A couple of other prizes were supplied by Clinton Rachman who couldn't fish because he was working - recession i suppose, but cheers.
