People: Myself, Adam and Alan
Duration: 5.30am to 4pm
Tide: In and then out
Weather: Perfect
Bait: Feathers, mackrel and squid
Results: Alan 20 mini-pollack. Adam four mini-pollack and one pouting. Me blank.
Alan picked us up at about 5.30am and were setting up on Castlegregory beach four hours later.
The water was like a mill pond and we lashed out mack bait to try and get a bit of action going. My self and Alan did a bit of spinning but to no avail.
Without even a rattle on any of the bells, Alan suggested we pack it in at about 2pm and head for Dingle Harbour.
Set up and within minutes he was into mini-pollack, although getting bigger as the season wears on. He was getting a fish nearly every cast, although little wonder he had three hooks up and small hooks on. It was then the turn of Adam to pull some in. I kept on my bigger hooks as I wanted to try for bigger fish, but no joy.
Headed off at about 4pm and never heard the end of it from Alan until he dumped us out of his car four hours later.
Jaysus, there's nothing worse than when someone gets a fish, and you don't...
