People:me

Duration:7.00-10.00pm

Tide:low

Weather:blustery, calm sea

Bait:mackeral

Rigs:clipped down, pulley

Results:5 dogfish, 1 congor

Report:am not going to get fishing for about 2 weeks now(10 days holiday in the sun   ) and was already having withdrawel symptoms so headed out last night for a short session, a bit blustery but still well able to detesct the bites. Had 5 dogfish in quick seccession, one good enough, about 65cm the rest must have been this years pups, only about 40cm, but lovely markings.
Had the trusty boat rod out for the resident congor and he duely obliged. the telltale rod nods and then the magical clicking of the ratchet :D :D Struck and hooked :) but as I tried to lead him around the pier wall to the steps to land him he became entangled in old line caught on the bottom of the pier :x :x so up onto the top of the pier lieing on my belly  reaching down to catch the top of the 80lb 2m hook lenghwrapped it around my arm and started pulling him up to cut off the old tangle of line :x :x :x finally landed him a quick measure 102cm and release.
Someday I'm going around that pier in a canoe to cut off all those snags :!:

Yes luminous squid hook length threaded through it so it lies above the bait as an added visual attractor at night. read somewhere that it works for big congor from wrecks, I've no boat so decided to try it for small congor from the shore
