Report: I was on my way to a handy little spot i have for picking up a few mackerel. I had a feeling Bradan would be out digging lug for the comp tomorrow so i kept an eye out when passing his digging spot, sure enough his car was there. So i stopped by to say hi i'd my lug already dug so quick chat and he said he'd follow me to stock up on a few mack for the comp. With enough mack got in no time i said fancy a quick session not having anything with him bar a spinning rod we mish mashed some gear together and got fishing lots of small pollack and coalies i'd two ballan wrasse then we spotted some nice mullet cruising we chopped up two macks and ground baited with no time the mullet were around us Bradan had a brief hook up fish scattered but got their confidence up after about 5mins or so and came back i had 3 nipping at my mack strip when Bradans rod buckled over mullet on his first ever 8) so with my bait litterally in a mullets mouth i dropped my rod to help land it this wasn't easy as we were a long way up so after a bit of scrambling i got close to the water but the fish wasn't ready another couple of runs and swirls on the surface it came close to me i grabbed the line and hand lined him out just as i went to grab him he dropped off and shot back to the bottom where he sulked for a few mins. The water was crystal clear it was class watching the mullet dart around as Bradan played him. Just a shame we couldn't get a photo it being his first. Fish was a counter as i had the leader and fish clean out of the water i'd put it at around 3.5lbs-4lbs. With that i thought the mullet would have headed for Clare but no they were brazen enough and came back again about 10mins later i had one nipping my bait again i could see it in his mouth waited for him to turn and struck fish on he came darting to the surface big splash then gone bummer but great to be fishing by sight. We called it a day with a coulpe of pollack on for us both and headed for some of Super Macs finest Snack Boxes. Congrats to Bradan on his first mullet just sorry i couldn't get it up to him for a photo... the net in the boot of his car would've helped if we thought of it in time.

Hi Connor,
There are still big shoals of mackerel coming in to North Clare, but mainly at dawn and dusk, regardless of tide state.
I have found a place to look for the Triggers but havent found the exact mark yet. I have three days college this week so I dont have the time to find them. Might do a quick daylight raid somewhere tomorrow.
