mayo obstacle course 09-09-09

went to a mark where bass had been caught recently,drove down to this mark to try out johns new jeep and his 4 wheel drive skills he has none!we were stuck within minutes then he discovered you needed to be in lo drive for it to work finally got to the mark and set up to discover it was full of weed every cast was clogged up with weed within minutes of casting out!i lost three rigs in three casts thru weed,and the boys did not fare much better we decided to cut our losses and went to another mark close by,we got there and i went to set up to discover i had left my main bag back at the other mark so i borrowed rigs and weights of the lads(generous lot these guys)and cast out while receiving lots of stick from the boys that soon stopped as i got the first fish,a doggie,then the second,a huss jason soon responded with a strap conger his first of the year and then the doggie onslaught started with the odd huss thrown in for good measure finally with the last cast of the evening i got a shore rockling,and then the 4 wheel drive back to find my bag!(less said about that the better)good nights craic with great weather,you would swear it was summer!!

the gods never make it easy all of the calamities are there to test you your then rewarded with big huss and the fighting doggies well done lads

i'm nearly not going fishing just to stay in to read your reports!

cheers seanie,we had to,no choice!a couple of minutes and the rods were unfishable!

nice session and report noel you didn't miss mmuch up here a quite a few flounder, baby cod pouting and rockling.
The flounder must be very hungry at the moment was using 2 hook flappers and 2 of the had taken both baits , which id never seen before !
If you fancy a session for the elusive northwest bass you can try the beach were i caught mine earlier this year just pm me
