People: me
Duration: 3hrs
Tide: up to high an dropping
Weather: windy but dry
Bait: mack, prawns, earthworm
Rigs: 3 hook flappers
Results: 2 small coalies at louisburg, 2 doggies at oldhead,
not much to report - handnt been out in ages - tried the wee harbour at louisburg - first cast had a double of coalies small, maybe 20cm or so both on mack, but there was loads of weed, and everyso often the waves were coming up over the harbour wall - not enough to be dangerous, but dodgy enough. missed a few more bites, but the wind, waves and weed were a pain in the a** so i decided to see if old head was any more sheltered.
old head was a lot calmer, from the outset i kept missing bites - 3 or 4 sharp taps but no hook up - tried leaving it, striking, smaller hooks - not sure what it was - probably small coalies or pollack.
had 2 doggies in quick sucession after about an hour, the second one was one of the biggest doggies i have caught - thought it was a Huss when i saw him coming in, but it wasnt to be - wasnt really in the mood for a doggie bashing so decided to call it quits and head for home.
had the bait trap out at both places - 2 small rockling in it at louisburg, loads of small pollack/coalies and pouting at oldhead - as well as half a dozen shrimp.
tried the shrimp, and some earthworms i had , but nada on them
still better than bein in the house

one of the mini pots off e bay noel
tp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Crayfish-Eel-Prawn- ... rap-Net-x1dead handy - packs up to no size, and you get all sorts, usually lots of shrimp in the harbour at old head, aswell as lots of mini fish, kids love it if they are out, and seeing what appears can really liven up a slow session with the rods
