Report: After a very successful lure fishing session on Saturday I woke on Sunday morning to be greeted by howling wind and lashing rain so another lure session was out of the question. I headed to a beach that generally fishes well early on the rising tide. The rain was not too bad on the journey there but as soon as I got set up on the beach it got considerably heavier - and was blowing horizontally straight into my face

However, on the plus side there was a very good surf and very little weed.
I had been there about half an hour and just as the tide was beginning to push forward I had a strong knock on one of the rods. I grabbed it and struck - at first I thought it was just a clump of kelp but as I began to retrive I could feel the pull of a fish. It was a plump 45 cm bass
A little later I had a knock on the other rod - but the fish wasn't hooked - I retrieved the line and found that most of a big lug bait was gone. That was the last definite bite.
By 4.15 pm I had enough of the miserable weather and decided to pack up. But at least I got a bass - so I was happy enough and it was worthwhile heading out on one of the worst days that I have ever fished.
I remembered my camera this time !!!!!
