Well, the weather wasn't the best, but we got out on Saturday morning (moaning) and found a fishy looking spot in Omeath near Carlingford. Clambered down the bank and fished in the rain. The baits were stripped by crabs in a short while and as the rain got worse, we decided to head off towing our blank behind us. Fished Balaggan a little while later and found another blank - even the crabs had given up by this stage. So then thought we'd try for a conger off Greenore harbour. This IS the snaggiest ground I have ever had the misfortune to encounter. Fishing with 65lb braid, 30 foot long 60lb leader, 60lb rig body and a sharkwire snood on the pulley rig. You could feel the rig drag out of one snag and straight into another. I guess it's just big boulders down there. Blanked and rigless, we ambled home.
Any optimistic thoughts we had for Sunday were dashed upon opening eyes. The sound of howling winds and rain against the windows made bed seem a very nice place to be. The only fish we saw were on the TV in the comfort of the living room. NEXT!!
