People: Just myself

Duration: 4:00 - 8:30

Tide: High at 6:30

Weather:Sunny but windy

Lures: Plugs and soft plastics

Results: 1 Bass

Report:
I've been trying a few marks around Greystones recently with lures and despite the amount of weed and coloured water I've still managed to pick up the odd Pollock or two but oddly enough no mackerel in a while and not a hint of what I was a really after, a Bass. It has also been the reason why I've had a bunch of blanks recently but I'd rather not dwell on that. Anyway when I arrived at the first mark on Friday I was wondering if this was yet another wasted journey as the water was pretty coloured and it didn't really look like ideal lure fishing conditions but after a bit of moving around I found a spot that didn't look too bad so I figured I'd give it a while and see if there was anything about. I optimistically started off with plugs (Morethan X-cross, Maria Chase and Smith Lively Minnow) in the hope of a Bass but after an hour or so and with my optimism waining I figured I'd switch to the soft plastics (Slug-gos and Shads) to see if I could tempt a Pollock and at least save the blank. After a few cast with the shad I had rigged up with and still no hits or follows, I was just about to lift the lure out of the water when I felt resistance, it was in so close that I initially thought that I'd just got snagged on some rocks or weed but then the snag started to move, it was a fish, I couldn't believe it when I saw the silver flash as I was expecting a Pollock to come to the surface. It wasn't a huge fish, maybe a little over 2lb or so but a welcome sight none the less and my second lure caught Bass in the space of a week. :D I put him back to do a bit more growing and you never know I might catch him again when hes a little bigger. I stayed on for a few more hours to see if I could pick up anything else as the light dropped but despite a few follows from some small Pollock I didn't have any more luck so I called it a day.

Thanks lads, I'm going to keep at it and hopefully get one or two on lures more before the year is out.
