lecanvey pier 24-08-09

Tue Aug 25, 2009 3:06 pm

People:me and jason

Duration:7 -11pm

Tide:high tide 9.10

Weather:wet,windy,sw

Bait: mack, sandeel,

Rigs:flattie rigs, two hook flappers

Results: huss,doggies,pollock,coalies,shore rockling

Report:got a late call from jason,to see did i want to go out. needless to say we were set up by 7pm, :D there were a lot of lads on the pier macky bashing so we had to set up father down the pier than we would have liked :evil:we both put on flattie rigs in the hope that i would finally get one!nothing happened for the first hour, but we finally got OUR spot back when the macky bashers left, fishless!!re riged, with one rod out searching for doggies or huss, and one in near scratching, soon the scratching rods started to produce, with pollock and coalies being landed, nothing larger than 1lb or about, then the doggies and huss came on the feed around high tide and it was all action after that, with a typical lecanvey session of constant stream of doggies and small huss caught :D :D with the odd pollock and coalies thrown into the mix, then jason got his usual rockling freelining a bit of mack, hes making a habit of catching them at this mark :D it was a great session with twenty plus fish landed,we finally packed in at 11pm after the weather got nasty, not bad for a quick session on a bad evening :D :D

how are you putting the frozen black lug on the hook? it's usually reliable for a few flatties.

i use no 1 aberdeens, and thread it up the hook and secure it with bait elastic, tipped with a small strip of sandeel,or squid.have never caught anything good on it.

try dropping to 4's and only use enough to cover the shank, a 1 is a very optimistic flattie hook :(
