Report:Had arranged to meet up for a session with the Legend in Wicklow Harbour so arrived at the pier at 5pm. I was the first of our group to arrive and i was lucky to get a spot with all the lads fishing for macks. No-one caught any macks as far as i could see

.They cleared off after a while and by the time the Legend, James, arrived a while later, we had the pier almost to ourselves. After introducing ourselves we got down to business and James kicked off with a double shot of sea scorpion and wrasse

. An old guy walked past me and told me that theres no fish there

,, but by the time he walked to the end of the pier and back i had caught 3

.I set up the distance rod and loaded it with lug ,tipped with mack. I got a couple of short spined sea scorpions on this, one of which was my best so far this year at 24 cms,a really chunky one

.There was plenty of action all evening on the small rods in close, with lots of blennies, wrasse, coalies and pollock hammering the baits. John Bunn arrived down for a spot of mack bashing, but after a fruitless half hour i set him up with some bait and traces and he started to get fish. Fishface arrived soon after, but not before breaking a tip ring on his small rod

. As usual he was off the mark in a flash with a double of wrasse, then getting some doggies on the distance rod. As Neil landed his doggie, i had a thumper of a bite on the small rod and struck, after a short but hard battle i managed to land a decent BALLAN wrasse, 28cms,my best here this year so i was well pleased

. The Legend also had some doggies, these were very dark coloured, like the Northern ones we've heard about from Al and Jordan. Then he got a treble in close, just to round off the evening

. We stayed on into darkness which gave Fishface a chance to show off his Petzl Ultra, did he mention he had one??, maybe a couple of hundred times

. All us other anglers had the L1, which we all agreed was by far a more superior headlamp

, and the Ultra was best left for lamping rabbits. In fact we all now know what it must be like to be a rabbit dazzled by the lights, thanks to Neil

. Boycie arrived for congers and we all had a bit of a chat, gave him the leftover bait, then headed off. Another successful evening in Wicklow Harbour, and nice to meet the Legend , who i hope enjoyed the evening and had a successful return to fishing
PS,,,,WE WERE ONLY JOKING NEIL ABOUT THE YOUNG LADS SELLING THE ZZIPPLEX ROD AT THE LIFEBOAT STATION,,AND ABOUT THE DIVERS SEEING A ROD AND STAND ON THE BOTTOM
