People:roe- gadsac comp...waterfoot-me al and jordan

Duration:1.30- 8.30

Tide:flood- high

Weather:windy and i mean windy

Bait:rag, lug and mack

Rigs:all sorts

Results:flounder , coalies and whitting

Report:Headed to roe estaury for the club comp, was a brave bit of wind kicking up when we arrived so we decided to move round a bit from where we were going to set up to get a bit of shelter, realised that no-where along the breakwater was going to offer any shelter from the wind :( :( . As usual i set up and the first bait i put in resulted in a fish ( 30cm flounder ) only to realise it was 15 mins before the comp started :x :x . But at least it gave me a bit of hope of having a decent result this time...................how wrong i was, unless you count crabs. Nothing but crab ,weed and crabs were interested in my baits, Al and Jordan were having the same trouble. After a few hours of catching nothing and being tourtured by the increasing winds Al Jordan and myself decided to call it a day and move somewhere we stood a chance of making a catch, so off to waterfoot we went. Arrived to find a few lads packing away so we had the pier to ourselves :D :D , still a bit windy here but no-where as bad as Roe, The wee master aka Jordan was first in second in and third in with some coalies, eventualy Al up'ed the stakes and started landing the fish, i changed down to size 4 cicle hooks and with instant results ( 25 cm flounder ) and some whitting, fishing was steady for the three of us and called it a day about 8.30 happy that the change of venue had produced some fish for us :D :D

hi minty wise move on the change of venue and getting a few fish, i was with Al, jordan and dawsey at fahan last night and Al was telling me about that session, said the condishions were very bad with the wind being so strong. the only time the wind has eased up this way was yesterday, for its being blowing a gale all week  but we had good crack at fahan last night. and jordan was first to catch again   i'm sure Al will put up the report when he gets out of his bed

that roe estuary mark has great potential, we saw lots of sea trout leaping out of the chocolate coloured water :D . but not when you have 40mph winds blowing straight in at you bringing all the debris and weed of the day over from the other side of the lough :x :x we were'nt even enjoying it. you were going through all the motions of fishing, without actually fishing :x . but abandoning the comp to clear off to waterfoot was the best decision we made that day :P :P :P . i think it's best summed up by one of the site user's signatures. " fishing is ment to be enjoyed,,, not endured "
