report:
So after blanking a few days on the trot there, i decided to get serious and stop muckin about. Got up at 5am, had some coffee and off I set. first mark- Howth east Pier.. .. The plan was to bag a mack or 2, then use that to harass a conger out, as I knwe the tide was dropping.. But the Mack failed to play ball, that along with someone(me) wasn;t thininkin in their choice of rod for feathering- my damn beachcaster...

Arms are torn off me. So I spent roughly an hour and a half there, cracking off on the east pier. Feathers that is. I was Jinxed. So time for a change of plan...
first off, the breakfast of kings- brekkie roll and bottle of club orange from The Gem
I went to sutton, dug some Lug, and had bought some razor just as I left harbour. Then picked up the Lady, she is a glutton for punishment, as she doesn;t even like fishing!!Off we set for next mark- Sutton.
Damn it was windy here!! and the sea was fairly rough. But I setup just the one rod, twacked out a big juicy cocktail of Razor and Lug. First fish in was a doggie, fairly run of the mill size, quick pic, then back.
Next up, I had nothin happening..
So i go over to see how she is gettin on harassing the blennies and crabs in the pools.. 4 blennies in a pool no bigger than 2 ft square were vying for the lug she had danglin in .. Back to my rod- my line is somehow almost going 90 degrees to the right instead of straight out where I left it.. Reeled like the clappers- slack line bass.. He came in without much ado, 2lb 11 oz., 47cm, far from a giant, but a bass nonetheless.Pic then back.. Next was another doggy, It was the ugliest doggy i;ve ever seen, skinny as jaysus with bulgy eyes and a scrawny mouth and nose...Kinda reminded me of a Sumatran Rat monkey...
The Scorpion I picked up at the end of this mark, small fella..is it long or short spined?
Lady was drunk off at this stage, so I had two choices- bring her for lunch, or drop her home and go off fishing elsewhere..
So 20 mins later I am down diggin bait a second time today, rag this time.My plan as to actaully target mullet again, but the wind was just too strong, although they were about, the float refused to cast anywhere except almost behind me.. back to one rod....
the tide was rapidly flooding at this stage, but readin bites was night impossible. decided to have one last cast, so cast in a different place than had been, as I had been dcastin into the channel. Got a gentle knock, then nothing.....cept a bow in the line.. another slack line. reeled in all the slack, but thought i'd lost the fish- no, it was swimmin towards me at a rate of knots.. beached it fairly handy, but it was gut hooked so I had it for dinner unfortuanetly..50cm, looked heavier but only came in at 3lb even. Fell to razor/rag cocktail.
decided to call it a day there as I needed some rest.
Off west early next week hopoefully, chasin more ray.....
