Report:Decided on an early start this moning so picked up Mike at 7.30 AM to be in our first west cork mark fishing for 9.30 AM. Got the gear setup but lost my rig on my first cast (Tought this was a bad omen for the day  ) I quickly got setup agian and eventually had a cast. A couple of minutes later I got my first knock. Struck it and reel in. It was a mackrel. Ah well at least we had some fresh bait :D . Casted out again and we decided to see if we could get some more bait so we setup the spinning rods also. First cast on the spinning rod miike got one mackrel but that is all we got on the feathers. In the meantime I was getting a few knocks on the ground bait rod. The baits kept coming back stripped so i recon it may have been crabs. Down the side of the mark there were a few good sized mullet so Mike decided to try and catch one. The water was very clear at this stage so we could see exactly where they were and also see them taking the bait. A few mullet had the bait in the mouth alright and kept spitting it out. All he got from that was a couple of 3-4 inch Pollock  . I managed to get one more mackrel off of the ground so at least be had some more fresh bait. Things got quiet so we decided to head off and go to the 2nd mark.

Got everything unpacked again and resetup. Things were quiet for about an hour or so. Mike decided to take a little walk further up the shore to have a look. I the meantime i was taking a few photos of the mark and all of a sudden I heard my rod fall off the tripod. Picked it up quickly and struck. I felt someting really heavy at the end of it. Reeled in and I felt a fish trying to swim up tide. I knew it was a goodin. Got my first Ray of the season. It weighd in at 11ibs. Great :D :D :D . Shortly after Mike picked up his first and only doggie of the session. The tide was now beginning to come in so we decided to move up shore a little. Mike got a good knock and struck it. Whatever it was headed right down to ground and to the rig caught. He had no other option but to break off unfortunetly. Things got really quiet again for a while. We decied to have one or 2 more casts before heading home. Mike got a nice knock and struk it. We knew there was someting decent on the other end when it decided to fight back. It was a nice bullhuss weighing about 12ibs i'd say. Couldnt weigh him as there was no chance of getting him on the scales.
That was the last fish of the session. We decided to call it a day at about 5ish PM.
