People: me jordan and dawsey

Duration: as long as our eyes would stay open

Tide: all states

Weather: mixed

Bait: rag, lug, mack, squid, razor and peeler crab

Rigs: various

Results: see below

Report: the road trip was on and we arrived at our dublin smoothie mark on wednesday to discover it was blowing a load of weed up our lines and fouling up the rigs within minutes    we fished on for 4 hours before we called bigsod to tell him the conditions were horrible. he suggested another mark where we could at least get some shelter and we headed for dun laoghaire. we met up and when the introductions were over we set up waiting for tony fella and drummer to arrive with the peeler we had ordered. (cheers tony  ) fishing was slow with jordan, dawsey, bigsod and tony all getting dogs, and when we left tony was trying for a conger. we decided that an early start at wicklow tomorrow might bring better fortune. so we packed up and headed for our beds. but i gotta say a big thank you to tony and bigsod for all the help and bait they organized for us, but it just was'nt ment to be  .we also got to meet john 1 and drummer :D always good to put a few faces to names. top blokes all round 8)

day 2.
we arranged to meet eyesreilley and fishface at wicklow harbour and an early start was in order. so by noon we arrived down to find them both set up and fishing. fishface called jordan over to show him a few prezzies he had sorted for him. he was doing a shed clearout and had a bag with some tackle in it for him and a cracking headlight (about 100 yoyo's worth  ). thanks very much neil :D . and a jacket each for me and eyesreilley. the fishing was frantic with everyone getting loads of minis and jordan and eyes getting a few new species too :P . jordan got a female dragonet and a black goby and eyes got a poor cod. we ended up with jordan getting 1 dragonet, 1 black goby, 8 ballan wrasse, 12 corkwing wrasse, 3 coalies (sorry defella  ), 1 pollack, 1 pouting, 3 tompot blennys, 10 whiting, 10 codling and a dab. he also lost 2 red gurnard on the retrieve which was a pity as he has'nt got one this year yet  . i got 6 ballan wrasse, 5 corkwing wrasse, 2 coalies :D , 3 pollack, 2 pouting, 3 tompot blennys, 2 whiting, 2 codling and a dab. dawsey had much of the same and lost a conger on his boat rod   . eyes left around 11pm and fishface stayed on with us and big mick. fishface was showing dawsey how to tie a few knots when disaster struck     . his ziplex rod and pen multi reel (baited with half a bluey) was ejected 10 foot in the air from the tripod and was at least 15 feet off the edge of the peir before it hit the water and was dragged out to sea at speed     . we all stood in shock looking at each other as something splashed on the surface about 150 yards out to sea before disappearing with the rod and reel never to be seen again       i just hope he can claim it off his insurance as it was about 600 euros worth of gear that he lost :( :( :( . we felt terrible as he specifically brought that rod and reel down to give us a few casts on it to see how good it was. mick phoned eyes to tell him about it, but i think he thought we were winding him up. fishface seemed to take it all in his stride, but if it had have been me i would have been distraught :( :( :( . that one rod and reel was worth more than all of ours combined  . by now we were approaching midnight and the thought of a 3 and a half hour drive home was looming. so we wrapped it up and headed for home and were in our beds for 4am.

day 3.
we picked dawsey up form his house around 11am and headed out to our huss mark in the hope of getting him one as he has'nt got one yet  . but there was'nt a huss around. just doggies :D . don't get me wrong, i'm not complaining. we had an excellent day out and jordan and dawsey were having a doggie comp with jordan taking the lead and dawsey making a blinding comeback at the end to tie it at 15 doggies each :D :D i endede up with 4, so the less said the better     .

all in all, we had an excellent 3 days marathon fishathon :P :P :P . and jordan took the honours by beating both me and dawsey. (i'm not gonna hear the end of that one for a while  ). it was just a pity the weed was against us at the smoothie mark. but that's fishing for ya, just gives us something to target again in the future

Glad you all enjoyed the trip and the pressies   . Pity you didnt get your gurnards at Wicklow but we all had a great days fishing, i made it 12 species in all.Weather was good too which is always a bonus ,and great that you did the report Al ,thanks   . I was going to do it last nite but went fishing instead   . Pity about Neils Zippy, bad enough to lose the rod and reel, but you'd always be wondering what you might have had on it  . He didnt deserve that, and him so generous to others, but i'm sure he'll bounce back and turn up with some out of this world piece of kit :) . Heres some more pics, just in case there arent enough in this report already   ,
Dave

Great report and pics and a good haul of fish, well done! It's as well Jordan wasn't holding that rod when it took off otherwise he would have been barefooting! Shame about the gear but at least no one injured :)

thanks to all for the nice comments, could not use the ratchet as the run on the tide was to great and to hold bottom was hard , as there was so many fishing i did not want to drift and snag everyone on the pier as i was at the north end who knows someone might find it and as its one of a kind ill never be able to replace it will have to start saving and get a new one that is similar, once again thanks to all for there kind words, hope to see you alan and jordan soon

reckon it was a nice tope neil, best way to use the ratchet there is to use it with the star drag basically turn the ratchet on and slowly release the star drag till it starts taken line and then a tiny bit back till it stops,

Cheers guys, was a great few day's of fishing, ok, weather and sea were against us from time to time but we had a blast. I would like to thank all the lads for making the trip so enjoyable. All top blokes. I have a few photo's but I think the guys did a good enough job there.

Hope to get down again soon tony if we can hit the weather right, oh and thanks for sorting us out with bait, much appreciated mate.

Neil and Dave, thanks for making our day in Wicklow very enjoyable, hope to tie in with you guys again soon. Neil, thanks for showing me all the rigs and knots much appreciated, and again mate i'm sorry about the gear, I was devastated the whole way home for ya man. Oh and just out of interest the dodgy magnetix was returned this morning so the hunt for a new multi is on :x
