Report:Decided to fish Greystones early in the morming on a rising tide so set the alarm for 5am

. Got up and was at the rocks for 6am, with a fine morming and calm sea. Got set up at my usual spot but i could see straight away that although it was calm enough at sea , it was rough enough at the base of the rocks, so i didnt hold out much hope that the smaller stuff would be around.First cast told me that the weed was horrendous and i spent a lot of the time cleaning weed off the line. The only fish that were around were the whiting , and i got 7 or 8 small ones that i didnt know were on

.There was a big swell, and every so often a big wave would come in and make a splash so i decided to move up a level,,,just in time as no sooner was i moved up than my old spot was drenched

. I thought the rocks might get a bit calmer on the drop and i was right, so i tried the mini rig again and got a few bites. I got a nice corkwing wrasse and a small coalie, and not to forget a beautiful velvet crab. I kept a bait in there on the off chance of a bass but no joy

. On the distance rod i had a nice chunky flounder, and a couple of small codling and whiting and about a ton of weed

. It was too much like hard work in the end so i left, but maybe thats because i was up at 5am
