Poolbeg, Dublin, 1st August 2009

Sat Aug 01, 2009 2:55 pm

People: Just me

Duration: 09:00 - 10:45

Tide: High at approximately 07:00

Weather: Very breezey. Calm inside the harbour rough outside it. Dry with sunny spells.

Bait: Various lures.

Rigs:

Results: 1 Bass.

Report: I caught the bass on a silver kilty lure inside the harbour. It was small; about 2lb or just under it. I missed another fish that looked about 6 - 7lb in weight. I saw a huge dark shadow swimming at my feet among the kelpy rocks. I cast out a short distance and let the kilty drop between the gaps in the rocks. This big fish just took a big swipe at the lure. I had it hooked for about 3 seconds but he got off :(

Hi guys.

Thanks for the kind comments and congratulations.

Yeah imagine it was a big specimen bass, that would have been electric!!!

To the person who asked about the weed, yeah there was a hell of a lot on the seaward side of the pier. It was the presence of big waves and tonnes of light brown weed that made me fish into the harbour side of the pier.

All the best,
John D.
