People:Kris , stephen , and myself
Duration:18.30-22.00
Tide:low water 12.00
Weather:showers
Bait:crab, rag and very fresh mackerel
Rigs:flappers
Results:codling, whiting, tompot blennies, flounder
Report:after an abstinence of 43 years i returned to fish the liffey in Dublin city and was duly surprised. Myself Kris and Stephen had a spur of the moment thing and rather than trundle down to wexford to chase smoothies we said we would try a mark that we had been talking about for years, we settled on the south side of the river because it's very quite and not much traffic, a good choice because you can get a load of hobo's mumping on the far side.
This is very comfortable fishing almost fishing out of the boot of your car and no hiking down soft sand beach and cleaning your car the next day.
anyway first cast into the middle of the river proved fruitless i then dropped down the side of the wall and got bites straight away a double codling stephen doing the same had a double tompot blennie this continued for about an hour untill the tide dropped with trebles and doubles the norm great craic on a lite rod,i was using ian golds new lite enticer rod coupled with 10lb braid on a 3oz lead and it was unbelievable you can feel a fish fart it's that sensitive.
Kris stuck with fishing into the middle of the river and was rewarded with some nice whiting and a cracking mackerel before everything went dead, a bit of banter some slaging and a mars bar later the fishing picked up again with kris getting some codling and a nice flounder, myself and stephen continued to wipe out the codling and blennie population down the side of the wall lost count after about 50. Rag down the side of the wall seemed to be the best bait.
All in all a very enjoyable session and one i would hope to repeat soon.

The Liffey Fishs Great From November Till January, Had alot of codling To 3 lb Last year ,plenty of Whiting, coalys, Good Flounders ,eels, and dogs.
Better Fishing Than most of The Beachs.
