Report: Tough nights fishing...arrived at the mark to find ideal weather conditions with a great swell and big surf running expectations were high until I noticed the carpet of weed stretching about 30-40yards in front of us....decided to give it a go anyway...first few casts were a disaster for me with the rod stand getting pulled over and losing traces to the weed. Brian was doing better and had a bass on the second cast. A sprat fell out of his mouth and which he stuck onto the hook and got another bass straight away on it. At this stage the slagging and heavy rain started. Turned around to put on the rain gear, heard a shout and the rod stand pulled over...Brian was struggling with weed while he hadn't noticed another bass on his second rod which ran across both of my lines...the resulting tangle meant tying another few traces in the dark and the lashing rain. The weed started to clear a bit and I got finally got going getting 3 bass in about 20mins...I was happy enough to stay at this stage but shortly after when the rain soaked through to Brians jocks we called it a night...the gear is still drying out at home

More of an endurance test than anything else but the fishing made up for it
Bass weighed between 3.5-5lbs and all returned.
Headed back out again this afternoon (wearing damp waders) for a few hours to a mark in the harbour intending to do a bit of plugging but the water was very coloured and weedy. Had few rag left over and managed 1 bass about 5lbs...crabs were very active and stripping the hooks in minutes. On the way back saw what looked like a boat trawling the area between fort Carlisle and up towards Roches point
