Lads, First time posting here, bit of a novice when it comes to sea angling, grew up fishing for brown trout but living in Dungarvan now, so having read all the posts about the bass round these parts decided to just get out there and try. Met a mate of mine earlier in the day, he has a bit of local knowledge and took me to a mark which he said would deffo produce a bass or two.He wasn't wrong!! Fished about half hour before the full tide and one hour after H.T. Only 20 mins into the session using lures, various, surface poppers and shallow divers my buddy connects with a cracking 4lber, delighted for him but bit anxious not to blank myself. Anyways kept at it and about 20 mins later saw a nice fish follow my lure, heart in mouth in case it turned away but not to worry actually saw the bass strike the lure, what a bang what a buzz, the bass made a beeline for the rocks, managed to guide him in and landed it safely, ABSOLUTE MAGIC, still cant believe it a cracker at 58cm and 4.5lbs.
So,
Have I got the bug? most definitely!!
Only down side was that bass took my lure completely and neither me or buddy could save him, so one for the pot hence photo, no camera while out fishing and had to wait to get home to record 1st bass.
Again... just brilliant.
