People: myself seaniebo(first evening)

Duration: 3 evening sessions

Tide: mostly round low water

Weather: fine and then then storms

Bait: fresh mack, hardbacks, limpets

Rigs: feathers, pulleys, 3 hook flappers, pats

Results: blank session 1 and 2 - third night mack, ray, dog, poor cod

Report: first night headed out for tope on a spot where they had been caught earlier - but from very early on it felt like a galway tope session - blank

good to meet up with sean and get detailed tactical information on how he is taking on the welsh comps

the next night headed out to st johns point - but by the time i picked up the hardbacks and limpets and got to the area - it was much later than planned

parked up and headed down to the spot - but was then confronted by a deep gorge - walked round it - then found the ledges to be long easy slopping ones and not the drop downs expected - did a bit of walking - was taking too long so just tried where i first found

again getting later - only into about 6-7ft of water - down sized the hooks and tried for smaller fish - no joy - all the mack i flicked out onto the seabed was still sitting there no fishi interested

gave it an hour and a half - nothing even went for the softie i found - thought i should have picked up something

went spinning for a mack or 2 no joy - could see 3 lads on another point down from me adn they had no joy either

made the hard walk back to the car very wrecked and downbeat after the effort - but i suppose i was burning the candle as usual at both ends

the heavy rain didnt help much either - and got a few mosquito bites for good measure

thursday then had a call from pete with detailed directions - got to the spot and heard the familar break of the water - macs were about - one on first cast

sprats were breaking onto the rocks beside me!

got 4 and then stuck out the baits - was still a bit tired from the night before to keep spinning - after 30mins got a poor cod

then the lightning started - downpours - and after an hour of cowering under a cliff face - a thornie showed up - on the 3 hook flapper with 10lb line - good craic

at this stage i was soaking but baring in mind my position on a rock out crop with rods i was fairly scared of getting hit by the lighting - held on to see would it move on

it hung around !!!

got a doggie but then was so jaded - i had to go - walked slowly round the point with the rods held down - got back to the van exhausted and drenched - with a few more mossie bites - but at least a little success

Sounds like it was a real endurance test Brian. Wouldn't fancy havin' the rods out with lightening around though

Fair play for pulling a few fish out...
