People:me

Duration:14.15 to 20.30

Tide:high 17.00 4.4m

Weather:sunny at first then lashed rain after i stopped fishing

Bait:sandeel.sprats,mackerel

Rigs:various

Results:1 dog fish,a sore arm, empty tackle box and a smile going home

Report:headed back to a mark i tried a few weeks back to see what it was like on the incoming tide tried for wrasse then pollack then tried a 3 hook flapper baited with mackerel and sandeel the first 2 hours was quite then had a bite, hooked my first ever strap conger eel but he bit through the line just as i got him to the shore, had no wire trace with me so used some heavy mono i had in the bag and a 6/0 hook, baited up and as soon as the bait hit the bottom was in to another conger, had a great fight with this one for 35 minutes until the hook snapped
searched the box for another hook only had a 10/0 so put it on and after a few minutes had a good knock, reeled in a dogfish surprised he took a hook that size
set up again and had another good fight with a conger about the 10 lb mark, the mono got cut on a stone as i was trying to pull him up the cliff
loss 3 nice conger and a heap of tackle but was delighted going home after a great day of nearly catching :D
delighted having found a conger mark and will be back soon as i have made a heap of leads and wire traces

Shame you didnt have at least one conger to go home with, GF. No doubt you're going to take full revenge on them, looking forward to the pix...

its nice to find a mark like that,my mark seems to be deep, cast out 40 foot and the line drops in to 10 foot,i had a great scrap with one of them before the hook snapped,35 minutes fighting him,had to sit on the rod butt and hold on with two hands, pains in my arms after it but it was great fun :D

the dog was one of the biggest i caught so far, greedy little fecker, swallowed a full mackerel fillet with a 10/0 hook as soon as it hit the bottom, hardly a bite mark on the fillet

the rocks around the spot makes it very hard to fish the spot, hard to use a net as well, might have got them with the wire trace and a bit stronger gear,i will keep trying
