Report: and they said it couldnt be done...............................................
to prove a point about a certain mark which has been named misleading in past reports, myself and the dogder hit the infamous north wicklow rock that is ................... after a 25 minute walk and hike we reached the mark that i fished with jack and rapala joe. it was good to us that day with quite a few pollock and nice wrasse. hope where high, a high tide combined with clear water had us thinking of perfect fishing. after a few fruitless casts i decided to throw out the big guns, despite a reduced casting range from i can do off a beach i was hitting the sand, two cast later after a few missed doggie bites, i was reeling in my first hound of the night, at about 3lbs it was only small, but we proved it could be done!
next cast had me into a slightly better fish of around 5lbs, it put up a great scrap, diving into the kelp on the way in, the pulley worked a charm and he was saftley landed . rodger's rod was next to go,landing just short of the clear ground he got hammered by a super wrasse, which went just under a shade off 4lbs on the scales. great fight off the bugger. my rod arched over and i was left with a serious slack liner after helping to land rodgers fish. missed him.
using a single hook flapper loaded with rag, i notched up a few other fish including some small wrasse and a solitary pollock about a pound and a half in weight. our attentions soon focused by onto the hound rods, getting smashed nearly every cast we missed a good few fish as they kept slack lineing us in the tide, i landed another fish before it got kinda quite. i toyed with the idea of a huss or ray and decided to put a bit a fish bait on for the craic, the dogfish found it irrisitible, homing in on it in seconds, end of that plan. rodger missed yet another hound after the fish taking a good bit of line with the ratchet on,

we where getting fustrated. just as i was about to put a conger rod down the mist decended on us, we both decided it would be safer to head back up while it was clear enough as we had a serious bit of rock hopping and climbing to do before we found the path.
job done, the mark does produce fish, it must be said it is quite dangerous and if your not reasonbly fit dont even think about it. rodger has some pics
