People: Me and Kerry2
Duration: 2 and a half hours
Weather: Sunny and very light breeze
Bait: Bread
Rig: Float
Results: 1 mullet
We headed out and decided to go to the same mark that we had fished on the two previous nights.
We got our stuff ready up at the car and as we did Davy M and Ronald turned up for a session as well, although they went and fished at a different location on around the corner from us.
As soon as we got to the spot where we planned to fish we could see straight away that there was loads and loads of fish right in front of us.
I started to ground bait with the bread to see if they where feeding and sure enough they went mad for it.
After losing count of the number of fish that nudged our float and having missed some bites much to our frustration we finally hooked into our fish.
It gave a good account if itself and put up a good fight before we finally managed to get it in the net.
After taking a quick photograph we released the fish back in unharmed.
Although we didn't have scales with us we did reckon it was approx. a 3.5lb fish which was great
After about another 20 minutes or so we hooked another one but this one really knew it was hooked and fought as hard as it could to get away.
After playing it gently for a while it managed to break free from the hook and that was it. (apart from the swear words coming from us both).
That seemed to spook the rest of the shoal and they all disappeared as quick as they had arrived.
A few more fish did turn up but they didn't hang around.
We must have had missed so many fish last night but sure that's mullet fishing for you, all that matters is the fact that we caught one and got a nice picture of it as well.
I can't upload it to show you as I don't have the facility for that on my computer but I will be getting that sorted out soon hopefully and then I will be able to show you the results of some very long and frustrating days out mullet fishing!
We have done alright up to now, that's 8 mullet we have caught so far, hopefully that number will have increased by the time the summer is out, it won't be for the want of trying
Once we realised that all of the fish had been and gone again, we packed up and headed over to see what Davy M and Ronald where up to and just as we arrived Ronald was putting back a fine specimen mullet he had just caught, what a great fish, I was so pleased I got to see it before he put it back in.
Davy M managed to catch a couple of nice fish as well. (I thought I'd better mention that incase he reads this)
Dawsey and Colin C had joined the two of them and were fishing as well. We stood and watched them fish for a while and then headed back up to the car. The fish had gone and so there was no point in hanging around any longer.
After a quick chat up at our cars we all headed for home, some happier than others having caught something
I will be going back there again very soon and hopefully it will be a good as it has been up to now.
