report:
So i was out to prove it to myself that there are indeed bass around north dublin, set off bout 10am , got bait together.. Nothing fights better than a northside ragworm! meanest rag i've ever met, one even pulled a knife on me!
anyway, setup, all in front was mud, with the exception of the small channel.. But the mullet had already started to move in so I figured I attempt bubble float/size 8/ maddies to get the early ones, as this has worked in the past. no joy though, damn crabs kept violating the worms as soon as they hiut the water.
Just after 4pm I put on the biggest rag I'd dug, mean sonofabitch, wooden leg and eye patch kinda worm.. cast it bout 70yards, into the far channel. 2 mins soak and suddenly rod was hopping. i was confused as I think I didn;t really expect to get bites in teh beamin sunlight there, but low and behold, north dublin bass. 3Lb 4 oz, approx. 53cm. not a monster, but a nice fish all the same.
only had him outta the water for a min or two, but would not resusitate, so i reluctantly brougth it home for the plate. Stomach was full of small hardback crabs, a thought for next time perhaps.
