Duration: 1 hr

Tide: around LW

Weather: SE light, warm, very calm sea

Bait: Crab and Shrimp

Rigs: Bottom fished 3/0 singlehook 18 ins off bottom, short droppper

Results:
6 Ballan Wrasse
1 Cuckoo Wrasse




Report:
Had planned a longer session but managed to grab an hour!
Have been getting a lot of small Ballans and was looking for something a bit bigger!
The Ballans took crab while the Cuckoo took shrimp.
Ballans were in the 3 lbs. range, best was 4 lbs. 4 ozs. and fought very hard!
This is a male Cuckoo. I recently had a female Cuckoo.

All returned alive.

Ive done a few sessions there, but always over high. Do you think it fishes better over low. Never tried shrimp but have a lot of cockles to try. Great scrap for their size the wrasse. Good fishing Ross

The particular mark I fished can only be accessed around LW in safe conditions.
There are other gullies here that can be fished from half tide up.
There is also a reef that can be fished up to half tide. I have described it in Shore Marks, South Clare.
