People:me, mick, derek
Duration:8.00pm-1.00am
Tide:high at 9.30
Weather:warm breeze
Bait:mackeral, squid
Rigs: pulley, flapper, up&over
Results:4 thornback, 7 dogfish, almost 1 good congor
Report:arrived on the pier to try a different venue for a change and eventually got squezzed in between and joined the mackeral bashers and quietly watched as the slowly left the pier as evening wore on. got set up to fish the bottom and mick had 3 thornbacks in quick succession, all around 6-7 lb

eventually i landed a dogfish to save the blank, then another and at last a ray before another dogfish. Had one really good bite, struck into it and had what felt like another reasonable thornback before the line went dead reeled in only to find the end of my line with the knot to the hook pulled through
Derek arrived then and soon set up to join us and my rod gave another good bite but was slid when I struck, with only the odd little head shake to keep me convinced that I wasn't snagged on the bottom after a great deal of pumping and keeping the pressure on I finally eased the fish loose and eventually pulled a good congor similar length to what I've caught before but thicker girth. As I began to handline it up my 25lb hook length snapped

and was badly frayed, why dont I use 40 lb hook lengths as mick does

I've been told I cant claim it was double figures since it wasn't on the pier or weighed but it wasn't far away.
About 1 am I packed up to head home but mick and derek were staying on, havent heard how the rest of night went yet.
All in all a very good evening fishing good and the banter even better

, at one point the fishing did seem to almost be a sideshow
Sorry about the poor quality of the photos, the camera settings seem to have been a little funny
