Report:Hadnt been out in over a week so I headed to Bray Harbour for a few hours to shake off the cobwebs

. When i arrived at 10pm the pier was packed, and i headed down to the last available spot. Got set up with 2 rods and cast out. Was only using frozen mack and squid at first but some kind teenagers (i'll never moan about them again

) gave me their left over rag. The few bits of rag produced 3 whiting in a row which got me off to a good start. The pier started to empty as it got dark but i suppose some people had to get up in the morning, i'm off for a few days

.I gave a few whiting to some guys beside me but when they asked me for a small dab, that was it,,,lecture time

,,,"if you put the small ones back they'll be bigger next time you catch them",,,,.I got a doggie on mackeral next and put him back while being told how nice they tasted.Think they wanted the doggie but instead i gave them some mack to catch their own but they didnt catch any

. They told me the fishing had been hectic here the night before. I was delighted to catch my first ever eel, followed by my second and third. As i reeled it in it looked huge in the glare of my headlight but was only about 25cms,,,the biggest one was about 30cms,,,but its hard to measure and photograph them as they wriggle about. The first one made a right mess of my trace and i had to cut it off him, but i learned my lesson on the second one and held him away from the rig body and unhooked him quickly. It was very weedy so i wonder if this had anything to do with them being around in numbers

. I had been thinking of going to courtown with some garden worms to target them,,,, didnt expect to get them here,, dont you just love fishing
ps,,,,I should have said that i was targetting eels
