Cushendun Beach 21st June

People- Me, Kenny and Rosco ( spinning)
Weather- Misty and cold very little wind
Duration- 4hrs
Tide- flood
Bait- Rag, Mack, Blueys
Rigs- wishbones and pulleys
Results- Me: 1 doggie and 1 coalie, Kenny: 6 doggies, 1 coalie and a 30 cm codling. Rosco- 1 coalie and I think the smallest turbot or flattie ive ever seen!!!!

Arrived about 2 hrs before high tide and got set up, there where a few other anglers on the beach and they werent having much luck. The sea was like a lake which means one of two things from my experience at cushendun crabs or doggies! At first it was the crabs you just know when there at the bait that vibrating rod tip is hard to mistake, so cast after cast at first was coming backed stripped or with brown eating crabs attached so I decided to stop using the mackerel to give myself a chance of avoiding the crabs, but what a boob this was! as the next hour or so I had to watch kenny bringing in doggies, so back on with the mackerel for me and almost straight away I was into a doggie and then a coalie, then I looked over and saw kenny sneaking outta the tide the codling, it is good to see the codling as they are vast becoming harder to get around this stretch of coast. I took a couple of snaps on my phone but not great quality sorry guys.

nice session and nice codling i,d say its a flounder judging by the shape?

I was spinning with a mate on the beach at Kilkee and he caught 2 turbot about
the same size on 2 cast's one after the other.

get loads of tiny flatties like that in the lagoon in millisle on coarse tactic- waggler fishing.
