People:myself and Frank
Duration:1800-2200
Tide:Rising to full
Weather:Overcast, calm seas
Bait:Lugworm, frozen mack and squid
Rigs:Various
Results:Me, 2 codling 1 plaice, 1 flounder
Frank, 2 codling, 1 doggie
Report:Arrived at the pier just as 3 other anglers were packing up. They had been there from 0600 and had managed to catch a few pollack for supper around 1 1/2 lbs. 4 other guys were fishing off the back but with limited success.
Around 2 hours had passed before I landed the first small codling of 23 cms. This was followed next cast with a double of a plaice of 18cm and another codling of 19 cms. Codling took lug tipped with squid, with the plaice devouring a frozen strip of mackerel.
Frank hit next with 2 further codling before I landed a small flounder.
The guys fishing the back of the pier had 2 very small pollack between them ledgering close in with frozen fish bait and ragworm.
Frank landed a doggie on full tide just before we had to pack up for the night. Just as we were getting acked up 2 guys arrived who had been fishing red bay pier and were proud to show off 2 pouting in a bag of about 15cms each???? Why do these people bother?
All in all a pleasant evening fishing in a nice setting which saw me christen my new conoflex baance with a few fish. Apologies for the lack of pics but I forgot to put the SD card in the camera
