wicklow barking mad

Wed Jun 10, 2009 6:36 pm

People: EASTERN COMMAND SAC

Duration:11am to 4pm

Tide: rising

Weather:overcast

Bait:sandeel, mackeral, rag, lug, crab and squid

Rigs:3 hook paternosters

Results: 202 dogfish, 3 dabs, i whiting

Report: it was the first leg of our master angler, 6 people turned up, we fished south of the monkey pole, it was non stop action, as soon as you cast the rods were hopping, i had 59 dogfish and 1 counter whiting, next was robbie coventry with 56 dogfish and 2 dabs, the fish were sitting between 50 and 70 yards out, we caught a couple of spider crab, it made me think of paul robinson he was looking for a location were he could get some, PAUL THEIR IN YOU BACK GARDEN,

just before we were leaving we saw a trawler setting something about 50 yards off shore dont know wether it was pots or a net

I have heard of nets being set very close to shore around wicklow harbour & north beach, already
contacted the fisheries board and they said they would check it out.
I was old to contact Martin Kelly if i saw anything odd.

it was a red trawler about 40ft long and what ever it set it was directly out from the monkey pole, it appeared to be from wicklow harbour
