It can be good for flats and the odd bass if they are around and good for cod in the winter. Packs strand fished ok last weekend.

Your post left a lot of blanks, did you fish the flood or the drop, above the bridge or below the bridge, where around the bridge did you fish Waterford side or Youghal side.

Sorry for the little detail just getting used to this. I fished 2hours on the flood and 2hours on the ebb at tip head . Told and read that this was a succesful place? Any tips if I were to fish it again would be appreciated. I am going to fish ring strand at the weekend any tips ?.............................. Thanks

You did not mention the type of rig you were using. If it was a 2 hook paternoster rig the flow in the tide and the height above the water from where you were fish would have caused your hooks to kite off the bottom.
Flounder are mainly bottom feeds. Try using a flowing rig where the hooks are nailed to the bottom.
At the Tip Head the fish can be under your feet so no need for a big cast.

You may also want to fish a couple of hours earlier - you will always be able to hit the water from the tip head. And on a slacker tide you can fish there even sooner. A couple of hours before the top of the tide the bulk of fish will have moved further up the river. Also look to the left when you reach the tip head, if there are pots nearby you may want to move.
