Ppl: me
time: 20:30-22:00
tide: high at approx. 21:15
Rigs: pennel/pulley/flapper and mini species
Bait: left over Rag and Lug
result: 1 corkwing(?) wrasse
report:
So I had bait left over from last night, and only decided to head out bout 7thirty.. I spun out to howth in the vain attempt to get some razor or mack, but all shops were closed- sigh.. so rag /lug i was..
Last night I got my first dab of 09, so set out the flattie rigs, size 2 and 4, with a 3/0 pennel out for doggies/a lost bass...
the wind was blowin a gale again, so hard to see anythin biting.. missd one solid bite, the rest of the time the crabs were strippin the hooks..
So I popped out my tristy Rhino rod, it's a small telescopic rod, with a lifetime guarantee by Zebco, I have taken strap conger, pike and large pollock on this lil baby. anyhow, over the edge it went with size 8's and titbits of rag. Managed a second new 09 species.. a small wrasse.. corkwing I believe, correct me if I'm wrong.
There were two other chaps there fishing just off the shingle to the left of highrock, they caught a couple of doggies on sandeel tipped with mack.. they also had razor, but things were quiet for them too.
I was happy to avoid the blank.. Think I may venture back with an array of different baits on thursday, think i'll hit up the asia market, see what works..
overall though I'm content with 2 new 09 species in 2 nights... If I can keep that rate up I shall have quite a list in a forthnight..
Later..
Dáire
