Results:Clougher Head Blank!, Wicklow 5 Ballon Wrasse, 4 Corkwing Wrasse, 2 Pollock, 2 Tompot Blenny's and 1 rock Goby (brother got a place the fecker). Cahore blank!! And Morriscastle 5 Lesser Spotted Dogfish.

Report:Mental weekend of fishing with very poor results.  Although I got out a bit I picked up no new species and suffered two blanks. I was playing poker in Dundalk on Friday night and left enough time to lob a few rag off the pier in Clougher Head. Wanted to try for a Coalie or a stray Codling and thought the venture North might pay off. I had no joy there. And blew a tonne in the poker too later with two buy in's.

Then After getting home after 2am and woken at 7am (love my kids) I got sorted and headed after lunch to Wicklow with the bro. I had to meet my sister at Jack Whites and she took the baby off me but the traffic and weather were very bad. After sitting in the van for an hour in Wicklow it cleared enough to get set up. I had a good session there but picked up no new species. I was just looking for one of Dave's Gunards or even a shore rockling, but no luck   A young lad that was there with his parents came down to see the fish we were catching. After a 100 questions, and I was happy to answer most of them! I gave him a rig and some rag. He trotted back to his parents to show them what he had got and then rejoined me a while later. Then his dad shouted that they were going for a walk and would be back later  He continued to fish away using my bait and that was fine and all but come on! 1) I was there to escape my two kids for a while and 2) I could have been anyone!!!!! That lasted an hour and he was collected. Then the brother caught a bloody place! I swear that bloke has Dave's luck

I also managed to mangle the light spinning rod I was using on one of the pollock. The reel set is messed up now completely. I paid €40 for it and I have to say the last couple of weeks it has done well for me so no regrets. We packed up and headed on to Wexford and the plan of night fioshing went out the window as I got tired and the brother got a better offer

After been woken up the next morning to collect himself from God knows where I went on into Courtown. Thank the blessed lord for Courtown Angling opening on a Sunday. While I was there another customer asked how I got on in Cahore yesterday! I said that I was not there and he said well you must have a double. Then walking out I had the same conversation with another lad!! I picked up a lovely little spinning rod for €50 and headed on to Cahore to continue with my sporting battles on light gear. Got there got set up and a girl came over to ask me about how I had got on yesterday!!! At this stage I was getting freaked and starting to question where I had been the previous day!!!! The water was low and very murky so I did not hold out much hope. Within a few minutes of setting up the sister called me and said she was going out could I collect the baby

So off I went with no fish and played daddy for the day. Really getting annoyed now at how things were working out I decided to hit the hay early and be on Morriscastle for 4:30am. I really wanted a nice size bass and a bit of a fight or even an early smut. I had a few big rag left and about 10 peeler's. All went well except I did not get any bass just 5 dogfish. By 7 I was hungry, cold and feed up. I packed up and headed for home. Quick sleep and set off up the N11 with baby and all.

After the poker and the fishing I think I'll stay in next weekend and read the Beano!

Sorry I have no pic's but the cigarette lighter thingy is caked full of ash so I could not charge my phone.

Well done Conor, i thought i was doing well with 3 sessions on the weekend, you must be knackered. Was caught out by some kids myself looking for bait on Sunday, gave them some squid only to hear they barbecued it    You should do what i do sometimes and use the old, "Sorreee,,,i hab veree littlee engleesh", that usually puts them off   The blank in Cahore shouldnt really count as you werent there long enough
