Donaghadee pier, Co Down, 03/05/09

Mon May 04, 2009 5:58 pm

People:Me

Duration:2115 - 2315

Tide:rising

Weather:dry, calm

Bait:mack, squid

Rigs:3 hook flapper, 2 hook bling

Results:1 Pollack :) , 1 Coalie :) , 3 crabs

Report:

Arrived down to find 4 other anglers there, (one of them caught a coalie on the float of the back wall), so I set up at the lifeboat end of the railings.

Set up both rods, and after about 20 minutes and lots of little knocks (crabs I am assuming), landed a treble shot of a small coalie :) , a large weedfish  and a crab  .

By this time the other guys had all left, so I moved up to my favourite spot below the lighthouse. Kept getting more taps, and landed a pollack (about 25 cms) about 30 minutes (and 2 crabs) later.

The crabs were having a field day as every hook was coming back in with only mack skin attached.

Called it a day about 2315, to enable the crabs to find their own food!

Still, crabs aside, a nice session on a pleasant evening

nice to see you got a few fish vamper :P . sometimes it's hard to get a bait out long enough for the fish to find before the 8 legged robbers have it munched down there man      but on the plus side you'd think they would draw some big fish in as the free crab buffet is so abundant :? :? :? :? :? at least that's what i like to think as the wee buggers are annihilating my bait

This year seems to be terrible for crabs. Might have to beat the wee sods by getting out the float rig and nightlites

There was no sign of our little chums :D :D , so no ASB officer needed.
