People, just me:
Duration, 2300-0100:
Tide0030ish:
Weather, clear skies, no wind, small surf:
Bait, rag, crab and razor:
Rigs, 2 hook flappers:
Results, 1 tiny flounder and a Bass:
finished work at 2215 and tore down the road to the beach. set up the first rod and got bait in the water around 2310. went to set up the 2nd rod only to find i forgot my 2nd reel. i left it in the shed after putting new line on it that morning
. one rod it was to be. it was very quiet with nothing happening. i wasnt too hopeful of Bass as the surf was going from non existent to fairly small. after about an hour i noticed the tip of the rod giving tiny rattles. i lifted it and felt nothing so figured it was a crab. the tiny rattles continued for another few minutes so i reeled in to put on fresh bait to find the smallest flounder ive ever caught on the bottom hook baited with rag. he measured in at a whopping 21cm but looked smaller as he was fairly thin. i got him back in the water and he went on his merry way.
nothing else for the next hour and with the tide on the way back out i gave it one last cast, then another and then another. i was beginning to tidy up when suddenly the rod started hopping. i lifted into it and thought i was into a good fish as he was putting on one hell of a fight. suddenly the line went slack with him swimming towards me. i was reeling as quick as i could and eventually felt the fish again and spotted him 10 yards out. i eventually landed him and he measured in at 46 cms and just over 2.5lbs, taken on razor. i thought he was a little bigger as he put on such a good scrap but didnt care. i was delighted as i was hoping for one, but didnt really expect it as the surf was so small. i got a quick pic and back he went.
i contemplated giving it another cast but decided against it as id given it 3 "last casts" already so packed up and headed home.:

cheers lads.
i really thought that the Bass would be bigger when i was reeling it in. it was only my 2nd one and he fought much much stronger than the last. i wasnt complaining tho.
hopefully ill have a few more before the ban comes in.

Well done Dennis, bass may be more plentiful when there is a big surf but there can be a few around even with a weak surf - you just never know.
After getting the bass on the very last cast I think I would have probably stuck it out for a few more

i thought long and hard about sticking it out another while but it was 1am, id just finished a 10 hour shift and i was back in work at 12 the next day so decided a sleep was the better option.
