People: Mans and mysefl
Duration: 2 hours - 7:30 - 9:30 pm
Tide: very dd, supposed to be filling to HW around 11:30 pm - didnt see much evidence of this!
Weather: April showers and holy cow, what showers!
Bait: frozen crab and sandeel
Rigs: rotten bottom rigs, and spinners
Results: 1 pollack, 1 corkwing wrasse (myself) and 1 ballen wrasse (mans)
Report: started at the flags at kilcummin past the shepherd's hut - omg what waves! pure white water below us, very difficult to fish owing to the squalls and wind, eventually landed a small pollack to a leadhead with an orange twintail but had to give up owing to the weather. Moved to kilcummin pier - flat calm and dry - and shallow! Where was the tide!?!
dropped a bit of crab down the pier wall and saw something flash in and take it - oh we thought what was that! Some rattling bites later, all was revealed. Wrasse, in 4 feet of water! Landed a corkwing and then decided to launch some baits out onto the sand - nada. Mans landed a half decent ballen and tried spinning into darkness but nothing else showed.
Cold and wet, left just before it teemed down. Nice to be out...

From Kilcummin pier round to the Flags is fairly poor these days. Locals say there's been a lot of bottom netting there since the drift net ban. Pollock fetching 100 euro a box now.
