People:myself and gar, plus john and doggie on thursday evening.
Duration:21st to the 24th april.
Tide:mainly low to high but really all over, unlike the normal easytide links, got it right on friday
Weather: we got it all from t-shirts to oil-skins!
Bait:mack, rag, squid, frozen lug and razor, lures and sw flies!
Rigs:endless
Results:dogs, one bullhuss, shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, pollock, flounder.
Report:arrived at old head tuesday evening and went fishing before we hit base! as you do.
straight into a bullhuss followed by a double of a fine 2lb'ish pollock and a shore rockling.
tide was down but oldhead was good. got a good bite on the 3 hook flapper but snagged on the strike. i knew the fish was on thinking conger after lastyears experience!
i hung on in for 15 min or so giving out line and taking it back but no joy!
eventually i got a run and took the line and struggled excitely only to take in a double dog!
happy to have my tackle and fish but expected something else! that's fishing for ye.
gar was spinning away for pollock and rest assured we fed well for breakfast.
unfortunately for gar the low tide from the rocks didn't help his swff. with heavy darkness we hit the oldhead pier for the last hour resulting with a 5 beard rockling followed by a dog on the 4lb spinning rod. this made good fishing.
wednesday was a wash-out, fished lecanvey rocks, wind was unreal, at one stage the wind scooped the coffee from my cup and scalded the hand off me!
blanked there so we headed back to old head and gar scooped a dinner size pollok on a perkin!
i blanked here.
thursday we met noel(doggie) and john. john and gar scored that night, great to meet the lads!
we fihished up on lecanvey pier friday with perfect tides, i started with a 30cm flounder and it was dogs all the way after this!
4 hrs drive to the weshht and very worth it!
great to meet noel and john for a bit a fishing.
will see you both soon guys.
could type for ages more about this trip........
that's fishing..........
