Friday 24th 5pm to 9pm
High tide 6:30pm approx
Bait: Lug and Fresh Peeler
Rigs: 2 Hook Clipped
Weather: Calm but raining on and off
Result: 1 schoolie
Fished an hour or so of the rise on a new mark for me. Place was packed - must have been at least 15 other anglers within 1km. Started off with a few bites and one small schoolie bass landed which was returned safe and sound.

Most of the other people fishing seemed to be picking up the odd schoolie too. Once the tide turned the bites stopped completely for me. Tide moved out very quickly and most people packed up and left. As i was leaving one guy had a beaut of a bass left up on the beach - must have been at least 6lb, maybe even 8, not sure. I'm not a fanatic when it comes to catch and release, I intend to keep one or two of the bass I catch this season for the pot but it's a pity to see a big one killed, especially at this time of the year. Is there any consensus out there on what size people reckon is ok to keep every now and then? I've seen from previous posts on these forums that the smaller ones taste better.
