Fahan, Donegal, 12-4-09

Tue Apr 14, 2009 10:14 pm

People:Me and joined by Fishermannum1 for a chin wag.

Duration:12-6.30

Tide:Either side of low water

Weather: Sun and broken cloud

Bait:Mack, Squid, Sandeel.

Rigs:Pulleys and Up and overs

Results:3 Doggies and a Thornie

Report:After seeing that the Thornies are back I decided to head up to Fahan and have a bash. I was setting up and another few anglers were already fishing. The guy to my right came over and told me that the fishing had been quiet and that only a flounder had been caught between I think 6 anglers. I hoped that things would change  I only got both rods setup and I started getting a knock it turned out to be my first Doggie of the year !! :D :D After returning it I realised that I didnt get a pic for the species hunt.  Now I was even more determined to get another. In quick succession I landed another 2 Doggies and remembered to get a pic of one :) . The next couple of hours were quiet with an angler to me left managing to get a Thornie and another to my right. I missed a good knock and thought that might have been my last chance. Fishermannum1 called down and kept the spirits up having someone to natter too. Really nice to meet up with poeple from the Forum and a top bloke to boot. He even told me exactly what way to bait up distance to fish at and after a little waiting my rod got a knock which he thought was a typical doggie bite. I was really happy that he was wrong as a nice Thornie came splashing across the surface. A quick photo and it swam away to grow bigger for my next visit I hope. :D

Forgot to say about the dog was funny as hell but I would have been well pi**ed if it was me.

I dont know how many dogs I had to chase away from my bait. One springer nabbed a squid head that had been lying out in the sun for a few hours !! Bet he smelt lovely later on

       last time we were up a retriever almost made of with our box of squid    he had the box in his mouth when fishermannum1 twigged what he was at and ran him off     . i think the 4 legged dogs up there don't like anglers too much. fishermannum1 was telling us he's lost count of how many times he's seen them cock their legs on anglers gear and happily empty their bladders
