Report:
My mate had his nephews up from mayo for the weekend, so we promised to take them out camping and fishing. Whilst the others setup camp, I got the rods ready.
With 3 kids aged 10, 13 & 15, I was busy from the off with baiting up, untangling rigs, and unhooking fish, not really giving me a chance to fish myself, any spare few minutes I got, I managed a cold beer though, so I was happy enough.
First in with a fish was the 13 year old, a nice turbot of around 30cm I guess, we didnt measure it - I'll post the picture when I get a chance.
The fishing was slow enough to start, but when you've a bunch of impatient kids thats no suprise really, they were getting a bite every minute, or so they'd have you believe, but consequently they were reeling in every few minutes to start with.
Once I had explained the need for patience, they settled down a bit, and started to get the odd small flounder, then as darkness fell the whiting came, a few more flounder and a small bass.
I was now quite drunk and cold, so opted to sit by the camp fire for the remainder of the night and left the young lads to it, just helping with unhooking the odd deephook fish.
A good time was had by all.
I must say, even though we had 3 kids with us, we left our camp site clean and tidy, you would never have know we had been there.
Its a shame everybody doesnt do the same, for such a nice spot, its criminal the amount of rubbish lying around this place.

Where abouts is Toberpatrick??

NBeqi, its the next beach north of Clones Strand.
The sign as you reach the beach says Kilpatrick, I've no idea why fishermen call it Toberpatrick though, someone on here may help with that perhaps
Thanks for the comment Al, it sure was hard work keeping track of the 2 youngest lads....and trying to keep the camp fire going also, the eldest does a good bit of fishing back home so he was a little easier to watch over.
Uvox, you probably know what a state that place can be in at times, its a real shame as its such a nice & easy spot to camp, and offers some decent fishing aswell.
Cant wait for a few more sessions down that way when the smuts start showing in numbers again
