Hi Rick...nice to see a report on Whitebay...hard luck on the blank....I'd prefer crab down there at this time of the year but it might be a bit early yet. Bass can show at any stage of the tide down there at night and you really need a bit of surf if your fishing during the day....nice spot to fish though...shame about the few "anglers" who leave a mess behind them down there...cheers, rory

Was thinking of heading up to White Bay in the next few weeks. Anyone any idea on tides and conditions? Have heard it's good for ray at distance

Is it true that you can catch spurdogs of white bay and also what types of ray can be caught

Hi

As far as I know you need to fish it at low water on a big tide to improve your chance of the rays, as there is a shipping channel a fair distance out and you need to be hitting this or getting close. Fished it in the daylight and only picked up a solitary flounder close in on a breezy choppy day. Was told similar to yourself, namely that it fishes far better into / in darkness...

Nice spot mind...

Well........ Its a bit on a soft side.....Was using 4oz weight +bait , will try 5-7 next time....Nice tip action , looks like Ill have to change braided for mono to reduce its sensitivity....Probably will have to go back to multiplier rod...
