Report:I had purchased a okuma magnetix mg-20cs multiplier and i was dying to try it out, this is my first baitcasting multi and i was a bit worried about how it would work out :? we decided on achill, and got to the mark that doug from "the shore thing" had recommended, the baits were soon out but it was a slow start, the sun belting down did not help! My first cast was a bit tentitive but all went well and no birds nests  about an hour into the session i got a bite and soon had a small doggie on the shore :D First fish on the multi and it was such a difference from reeling a fixed line reel. There was a lot off weed and jason seemed to be getting more than his fair share of it  another hour passed and the wind had really picked up, which is not a good thing for this mark as the wind gets funneled through the the mountains, and seemed to be hitting us straight on  We stuck it out for a few hours more, but bar another doggie for me there was nothing but bloody crabs!!
It was time to move and we decided to try a pier that we had not fished for a year, when we got there the tide was in
and we were soon set up with two rods each out,i had finally got the hang of the multiplyer  and was confident enough to let rip with a cast, you know what happened next  a bloody big birdnest!!!! that will teach me to get too confident too quick!!but all was forgotten when i was reeling in a rod and a small aea trout grabbed it!things went balistic then as i got all panicky  trying not to lose the fish, but finally i landed it! :D :D BEST fish ive caught in a long time,it was small but it jumped all over the bloody ocean :D :D :D Unfortunally jason then preceded to lose not one but two sea trout in quick sucession, man, but can he curse   The tide was well out at this stage so we decided to head home, jason was not a happy man, but im not complaining :D :D :D

PS thanks to all the lads that gave hints and tips on how to use a multiplier it helped me enormously.

well done! you're a braver man than i, i'm still using fixed spool reels as i just can't seem to get the hang of casting with the multiplyer     but fair play for having a go at it. getting fish during the day is hard enough at the moment :x

youll get used to the reel after a while
i use nothing but multipliers, 3 of them , and have done for many years and still manage the odd birds nest , usually when i change my mind on distance halfway through a cast!!!!

Good session bud, it looks like a nice beach too.

In the second picture it looks like your rods are kinked or bendy?
I assume it's just the way the photo is...?

they are a lot easier than i thought they would be,mags on full and you get no overruns, but it was thanks to the many lads that gave tips on how to cast that helped! and i had practiced in the fields before hand, but we wont talk about that

Nice one doggie,

I'm heading west for a week in April and would love to land a sea trout. What bait did you catch him on?

nice one on the sea trout, and hard luck on jason dropping two.

they really are hard to beat for getting the adrenaline going :-))

have you tried the bulls mouth ? ( the channel between innish biggle and achill.) only fished it once myself but have stopped to watch guys fly fishin there - lots of sea trout about there and seen a Garfish caught as well - was advised that an hour or so either side of slack tide is best as the current is really strong at other times
