Greystones rocks

Met Neil at half six to use up the last of the bait we dug on Friday. They say flatties like lug on the turn and I guess they were right. By a quarter to eight Neil had bagged 6 fishies including rockling Dab and plaice. I stayed on for an extra hour until I was soaked through and the bites died off a bit. All in I managed 10 fishies none huge but varied all the same with some whiting, dab, flounder and the rest rockling. Speaking of which I pulled out a fairly big rockling which looked really fat. Would it have been full of eggs or just gorged on food? Is it rockling breeding season? All lived to fight another day. Good evenings fishing.

the rockling tend to inflate their bellys to look bigger than they are as a defensive mechanism - the greedy bugger could have been eating your bait for ages also!
