Mon Feb 23, 2009 2:28 pm

People: Myself and the young lad

Date : 17/02/09

Venue: Cheekpoint Pier.

Duration: 8.15pm to 11.00pm (HW 11.25pm)

Tide: Incoming.

Weather: Beautiful, flat calm

Bait: Frozen Blag Lug, frozen peeler and frozen sandeel

Rigs: 3 hook flappers.

Results: 6 Codling biggest about a pound, one whiting and 5 Flounder (biggest 31cm)

Report:

Was down in Faithlegg from Monday for what was supposed to be a 4 day family holiday which unfortunately got cut short for me having to cut out to travel to Valentia for a funeral on the Weds & Thurs (no I didn't bring the rods).

Managed to get the lines wet on the Tuesday evening for a few hours only, but it was non stop action from the start with bites coming immediately. Lovely easy clean ground spot to fish with great light from the pier and ideal for beginners.

The young lad outfished me though and he was fishing close in.

Black lug was the only bait that was taken, crab and sandeel produced nothing.

The last hour the fishing slowed significantly which surprised me as this venue was a two hours up to HT venue according to the locals.

Big thanks to Keith (Kstaff) for the advice on the Venue.

Donal.
