Report:
There were meant to be three of us fishing the south beach, no answer from one lad even thou he was meant to be at my house at 5pm, my dad decided that he needed money and went out to work that night. So that left me, must confess never went fishing on my own before. So i said i must go as I was looking forward to this since Wednesday so that was that got my gear together flask and winter suit. Into the car and off i went. i wanted to test out the new rod and reel i bought from Scotland because it was so cheap at £40.00 for rod and reel. Rod was a Ron Thompson stratocaster and the reel a dam. must say for £40.00 (about €45) it is a great bargin. Rod did show all the bites but it would be a bit senstive for wind or rough ground. but happy with the investment. Back to the fishing i set up and had the bait out and bites were slow at first and then they came thick and fast after the first hour. Enjoyed it and at about 9.50 or so another angler set up so i stayed on for an extra hour past the time i planned. it was great to get a few tips from somebody else and just change stories. looking forward to this weekend to get out again either on my own or with some one else if they don't cry off again. No pictures as i think people know what whiting look like.

Fair play to you fishy for heading out on your own anyways. Its disappointing when your let down by others. The steps is a grand comfortable spot on mild calm evenings  . I always prefer to be fishing with someone else, but thats probably cos i'm a windy so and so, especially at night with rats running around my feet ( oh the thoughts of it  ,,i'm getting flashbacks   ). The wife does all my worrying for me,,,, she does enough for the two of us when i'm out at night. I told her its just as dangerous during the day ,,but that didnt seem to ease her mind :? :? Anyways, I caught a 6lb Bass there last October on a so called cheap rod and reel,,, the fish dont know how much you paid for it  .

fair play to you for heading out on your own. like eyes says, it's better to have someone to chat with as you fish. but i think us anglers are social creatures by nature
