Carraroe, Galway 12.02.09

Fri Feb 13, 2009 2:15 pm

People: vinnycorrigan & myself

Duration: 17:00-00:30

Tide: HT @ 19:00ish

Weather: gentle breeze WNW best night in months was nearly like a summers evening

Bait: mackerel, herring, squid, sandeel

Rigs: one up one down clipped, 3 hook flappers two hook pats and animal gear

Results: Vinny 3 Pollack, 1 Coalfish, 1 Long Spined Sea Scorpion,
Myself 3 Pollack, 3 Whiting, 1 Coalfish, 1 Dab

Report: Myself and Vinny headed for Carraroe to check how it was fishing. I hadn't fished it since the mackerel related invasion last August. Conditions looked perfect rising tide little bit of movement in the water. Vinny was first in with a pollack, followed by his first sea scorpion. We were hoping there might be some Ray knocking about i banged out a nice cocktail into the channel in expectation but unfortunately none showed  it did however yield a nice pollack :) i had an animal rig out with a mack head and guts to see would anything take a fancy but to no avail. We caught a few more fish just as the tide turned then it died completely we fished on for another few hours as it was such as nice evening vinny managed to pull one last pollack out but that was it
