lots of lugs, and what looked like tubeworms, the "thing" is the same "thing" as the ones we had from same mark a while back, its complete and looks like a slug :? ,.. the spawn, makes me think they breed locally from jan, till end of april. :?:

Thats strange i thought the picture of the bass is of the one you kept,i suppose it would explain so much "stomach contents".Begs the question if that is spawn what temp is the water if they are getting ready to spawn.I was always led to believe that cold temps would kill any fry hence poor year classes after v cold winters.
mod edit..... you know why

Mike, the water temp isn't actually as cold as you think. M3 was reading 10.0C today. That's about the same as this time last year, despite the cold weather. The storm that passed south of the country last night looks like it brought the bass on the feed...well in Waterford, at least.

Cheers Pat,
i was told the same by a guy at work who does a lot of diving but he does tell a lot of porkies, but hearing it again means i'm off to sharpen my trebles and reload my spinning reel, great fishing by the way by yourself and Danny

You´ll always throw up surprises and turn the books on their head..maybe the waterford/wexford bass do breed locally it´s all very interesting to me as you know yourself..Bass in the first week in january that deserves a prize, maybe their only ready now with gonads that ripe to head to the channel and breed or maybe given its o late they are local, who knows??
