Report:

Really wanted to get after being struck with the flu and revising!! So I thought i'd try out a local mark that I was told can produce some nice flounder. So after my last uni exam :? I got down to the mark and set up. I got there a bit later than intended, wanted to get there as the tide was just on the turn inwards. The blowy conditions forced off the spot were I would and SHOULD have been fishing however I thought I'd give it a bash at a more sheltered spot.

I brought 3 rods but only put two out, only managed one knock on my small rod, but didnt connect, was robbed. It was time to call it a day:

The start of my disaterous afternoon began, whilst moving from one spot to the next I had completely forgot about my penn telescopic spin rod that I decided not to put out. By this stage the tide must have moved about a good 10-15m inland. Well I thought i'd chance my arm, walked up and down the stretch 3 times and just as I was about to give up I found it sticking out of some kelp!result! :|

I thought al was well....... I was wrong! :o The mark I fished is only accessible during low - rising tide, at high water a good set of rubber boots is usually required. However lets just say this was one of the biggest tides I have seen at this mark. I found myself wading chest deep in what was a pretty strong current! One broken phone later I am still hear to tell the tale

This mark should do ok during the day, I have been reliably informed from guys that know more than. Just need to get fishing the correct spot. But definately a valid point Dan.

I know I was thinking that last night mate, me bringing you down to a new mark and us both having to camp over night  O aye the crown jewels took a battering in the sub-zero conditions  especially the walk back for my lift home. However I bet the wee man sittin in his car in the car park got a right laugh at me wadeing my way to safety.... he left as soon as I got to dry land

i know some marks that fish during the day but you need some colour in the water, i know you get some flatties during the day, is it the main species there. where abouts is the mark, if it is around millisle you will get the odd fish during the day.

Flounder would be the main species here to over a pound I have been told. I will get another go at the spot I had hoped to fish when wind has dropped. High hopes for this spot even after my little blip

give her a couple of days for the winds to ease down a bit and try it for codling and whiting, you'll get your flounders and dabs too, even try it on a head on wind just incase there are some bass about, doubtful but you never know.

try rag or lug tipped with mackerel or squid, works around millisle when youre targetting flatties.

I now the spot well Dawsey, you should be able to cross back over an hour into the dropping tide, I assume you tried to cross at high tide? Not really sure how well it fishes at this time of year, but come spring it will produce. Also the odd chance of a sportfish from there.
